History
It all began a very long time ago, when a merchant ship was set upon by pirates of the Singh brotherhood…no wait a minute…that’s a different story.
This story starts a few years ago when I found myself at a bit of a crossroads, praying seriously about what God wanted me to do next. The short version goes something like this:
I really felt like God was calling me to plant a church again (I had co-planted a church in MN in 1995). Shortly after I had become convinced that this was definitely what God wanted me to do, one of my closest friends dropped by under the pretense of talking about a class he was teaching (he knew nothing of my desire to plant a church). What he had really come to do was to talk me into planting a church. He had no idea just how easy it was going to be.
God had brought both of us to exactly the same place without either of us knowing it. He shared the vision God had given me and we had our first partners even though we had no idea what we were really doing yet. In the following months it all began to become much clearer and God graciously confirmed His leading along the way.
By April of 2006 I had the blessing of the Senior Pastor and the Elders and the official announcement was made to the church. At the end of the August we left the church and struck out to be missional hobos in the city of Austin. I really didn’t use the term missional hobos back then (I just picked that up recently) but that’s really beside the point.
By the time 2007 rolled around both our families had moved into the city. Today, we and several other families meet together weekly to worship Jesus and learn what it means to live as missionaries in our city.
